I'm watching news coverage of the devastation in Japan and listening to a correspondent there talking about how difficult it is to get to the hardest hit areas and how they have their vehicle 'loaded to the gills' with their equipment. How many bottles of water could they have fit in that car instead? How much food or medical equipment? Medical personal, even? But they filled their car with television equipment.
In the coming days our televisions will be glutted with images and videos of the disaster. The world can wait to see the pictures; how long can the survivors wait for aid? How did our priorities get so skewed?
